POV2020 Open Call

POV2020

Points of View: Critical Frames for Performance Engagement (POV2020) is a programme for young performing arts practitioners to explore various ways of viewing and approaching artistic work. Facilitated by a team of experienced practitioners, selected participants will spend eight to nine days watching performances at the Singapore International Festival of Arts (SIFA), conversing with festival artists and each other, and engaging in structured workshops through critical frames of performance writing and making. 

Participants will:
  • Participate in discussions and workshop activities with the programme facilitators.
  • Attend selected SIFA performances for free.
  • Dialogue with SIFA artists and organisers.
  • Share their experiences with the public in a forum.


OPEN CALL
- Application Period: 26 February to 22 March 2020 -

To qualify for POV2020, you must:

  • Be aged between 18 and 35 years old.
  • Be a Singapore Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Resident in Singapore.
  • Be confident in both written and spoken English.
  • Have a practice in the performing arts.
  • Commit to at least the compulsory dates of the programme:
  • Compulsory dates: 16 & 26 - 31 May 2020
    Additional dates: 17 & 22 May 2020

    POV2020 is facilitated by:

    Charlene Rajendran 
    CHARLENE RAJENDRANa theatre educator, researcher and practitioner who works at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. 

    CHONG GUA KHEE
    an independent theatre director and performance-maker in Singapore. She also takes on facilitation and dramaturgical work that spans disciplines such as dance and visual arts.

    CORRIE TAN, a Singapore-based writer, editor and researcher who is into radical shifts in performance criticism. Corrie is also a doctoral student in Theatre Studies on the joint PhD programme between the National University of Singapore and King's College London. 

    Kok Heng Leun
    KOK HENG LEUNthe Artistic Director of Singaporean theatre company Drama Box, and a prominent figure in both the English- and Chinese-language theatres in Singapore.

    Robin Loon
    ROBIN LOON
    a dramaturg, academic and playwright. He currently teaches the Introduction to Theatre & Performance module as well as modules in Singapore English Language Theatre and Theatre Criticism at the Theatre Studies Programme, National University of Singapore.
